Abstract
422,068. Scraper-apparatus for loading loose materials. HOLMAN BROS., Ltd., Camborne, and KEAST, J. B., 39, Trelawney Road, Camborne, Cornwall. Aug. 17, 1933, No. 23013. [Class 78 (iv)] In loading-apparatus of the kind in which a scoop or scraper 21 for delivering earth, coal, &c., into a truck 20, is hauled up a ramp 11 by a rope passing round a sheave 25 near the upper end of the ramp, the ramp overhangs the supports 3 and terminates in a horizontal portion, and the discharge opening commences in the overhanging inclined part of the ramp as at 18 so that the haulage rope is free from contact with the ramp. The slope of the ramp may be equal to or less than that of the rope when the scraper is at the bottom of the ramp. The horizontal part of the ramp is formed by a U-shaped member 17 of channel section, presenting a curved end when the apparatus is moved forward on the rails 6. The edge 19 of the discharge opening is formed as a downwardly-turned lip. The lower end 12 of the ramp is slotted to engage the rails, is hinged at 13, and can be secured in raised position by hooks 16 for transport. The ramp is provided with raised sides 34. The apparatus is mounted on wheels and carries a motor-driven twindrum windlass 22 for the head and tail ropes 26, 27. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 379,377.
