Abstract

167,380. MacBride, R. W. July 24, 1920. Vehicles, marshalling and manipulating. - An adjustable wheeled tipping-frame A, which is secured in proximity to the dumping-point by pins passing through registering holes 13 in the framework and the running rails, carries an inclined track which is looped to form a spiral intermediate its ends and is. curved through 180‹ at the upper end to lead to a parallel return track 4. The wagons are drawn along the track, for example by being clipped as shown at x to an endless haulage rope C, and the contents are discharged during the passage round the spiral. A guide rail 2<a> engages the upper sides of the wagon wheels during the discharging operation. The rope is guided in the spiral track by spring-pivoted forks 7 which are depressed in turn by the wagon in passing. The radius of the curve at the upper end of the track is made as small as is practicable, in order to reduce the over-all width of the frame, and a rotary table or drum 5 is inserted in the loop to assist the wagons in turning. The return track switches on to the main track again at the loading point. To allow for adjustment of the loading frame as the dumping proceeds, the haulage rope is tensioned by a pulley 14, Fig. 3, mounted on a wheeled carrier E connected to a tensioning weight G. A platform and railing 11 extends all round the edge of the upper surface of the loading-frame in order to facilitate access to the various working parts.
