Abstract

775,151. Securing loads in railway trucks &c. SOC. POUR L'UNION DES TRANSPORTS FERROVIAIRES ET ROUTIERS. May 24, 1955 [Nov. 30, 1954; Feb. 1, 1955], No. 14962/55. Class 103(4). A railway truck, &c. for transporting rolling loads, such as road semi-trailers, comprises longitudinal girders 1, 2 the upper flanges of which form rails upon which the fellied wheels 7, 8 of trolleys are adapted to run, said trollies each being constituted by side cheeks 4, 5 which are connected by cross-pieces 6 and are provided with tecesses 9 to locate and support a wheeled axle 3 and being locked on the truck by the engagement of hooks 10 with apertures 11 in said side cheeks. The hooks 10 are keyed to shafts 13, 14 which extend along the inner sides of the two girders 1, 2 and are rotatable by a transverse spindle 18 having threads 19, 20 meshing with worm wheels 21, 22 slidingly mounted thereon, and, as shown, the shafts are provided at their ends with elastic shockabsorbers 15, 16. In transporting road semitrailers the low axles of the props of the latter may also be supported; for example, the axle 42, extending from the lower part of a prop leg 41, Fig. 3, and mounting the usual supporting rollers 43, 44, may be fitted with spaced fellied wheels 45 which are adapted to engage the girders 1, 2 and have integral securing clamps 47 each provided with a hole 48 to receive the nose of a hook 49 hinged to a slide 50.
