Overheating uf superheating tubes, preventing; mounting and supporting.-Furnace walls having steam generating and superheating tubes in alternation are formed with blocks disposed between the generating tubes and the furnace with means to secure each block to a pair of tubes, the blocks being formed with grooves to receive! the superheater tubes. Superheater tubes 6 are disposed in grooves 9 of blocks 10 which are secured to water tubes 3 by clamps 11. The body of each block is preferably metallic and the face of refractory material 14. Bolts welded to the superheater tubes and extending through the blocks may secure the tubes in the grooves. The superheater tubes may be flattened and disposed more nearly between the water-tubes within grooves on the outer face of the blocks, refracting facings being provided on their inner face as before. A modified form of securing means comprises a bearing member through which one or more rearwardly projecting tongues pass each having an aperture through which a wedge is driven.
