Abstract
334,985. Hooper, F. J. July 3, 1929. Couplings and connectors; direct connections between conductors; earth-continuity couplings.- A connection to a member coated with enamel &c. is made by means of a clamp or other device with screw means for applying pressure, and having one or more projections formed on it or associated therewith of a length sufficient to penetrate the coating. A clip 8 has holes 10, the adges of the strip or holes being left with a burr or projection that penetrates the coating on an enamelled tubes 2 of an aircraft frame when the clamp is tightened by a bolt 3 to hold a petrol or oil pipe 7 thereto. A layer of leather 9 that prevents damage to the pipe 7 may be laced to the clip 8, with wire passing through the holes 10 and establishing contact with the pipe 7. The clamp with a burr or projection formed internally may surround the tube 2 only, the other member being inserted between the ends of the clamp and held by the bolt 3. Alternatively a second clamp may surround the pipe 7 or a similar member, Fig. 7 (not shown), the two clamps being tightened by one bolt 3. The projection may be formed on an auxiliary strip inserted between the clamp and the enamelled member.
