Abstract

Cold-storage rooms.-The rotary compressor 3 and the air-circulating fan 8 for the condenser 4 of a refrigerating machine mounted on a rail or other refrigerator-vehicle are driven by independent direct current motors 6, 9 supplied from a generator 13 driven by an internal-combustion engine 14. Resistances 15, 16 are placed in the shunt windings of the motors so that the speed of the compressor can be reduced and that of the fan increased when the temperature of the air rises above the normal atmospheric temperature and vice versa when the air temperature falls below the normal. By this arrangement, the load on the generator is maintained substantially constant.
