Abstract
334,494. Field, C. July 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Divided on 315,421. Solidfying and then removing films.-In icemaking apparatus of the kind in which a film of ice is formed upon an internally-cooled rotary cylinder and detached therefrom by the deformation of the cylinder, the deformation is effected through rollers 206, Fig. 1, loosely mounted upon shafts 208 supported by slidable sleeves 218 mounted upon guides 220 and moved radially through adjustable links 222 secured to a reciprocating rod 228. The rod is reciprocated through link-mechanism 238, 246, Fig. 4, by rotary cams 252, 254 mounted on either side of the gland 126 of the stuffing-box of the cylinder trunnion. The cams actuate followers 256, 258, Fig. 5, which are engaged automatically with their respective cams through a link 266 secured to a shaft 268 connected by a spring 272 and a clutch 276, 278 to an oscillating shaft 270. The shaft has a spherical bearing 271, Fig. 7, in a casing 286 and is connected through a crank 290 and roller 292 with a groove in a gearcam 284 rotated through the shaft 88 from which the cylinder is driven.
