Roofs. - In a furnace roof of the kind comprising central key bricks of wedge-shape suspended by adjustable rods, the rods are adapted to be inserted in the key bricks from above the roof by a rotary movement. The lower ends of the rods c, Figs. 2 and 4, are provided with a metal screwed member m which is screwed into the key bricks b and protected by a cap k. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, the rod c is provided with a square end c<1> engaging with a socket in a screw plug p which is screwed into the key brick. The lower end of the rod c may be wedge-shape as shown at c<2>, Fig. 6, and adapted to engage with a wedge shape recess o in the key brick. The wedgeshaped end c<2> is inserted in the recess, turned through 90‹ and then secured by filling pieces r. The key bricks have side projections which engage with recesses in adjacent bricks and the springing bricks b<1>, built into the side walls, have projections engaging with adjacent bricks and inclined surfaces over which the adjacent bricks slide during expansion of the roof.
