333,589. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Lane, F. J. March 12, 1929. Drawings to Specifacation. Detecting, indicating, and locating faults.- Faults on transmission lines are indicated locally by electromagnetic pawl-and-ratchet mechanism energized by the fault current, the mechanism being provided with semaphone, coloured disc or like indicators. Successive operation of the fault indicators may occur so that should the faulty section be reconnected, the fault is still indicated. Pilot circuits may be provided for the indicators in which case the indicators may be energized by balanced beam or wattmeter type relays. The indicator coils may be fed through transformers such as those described in the protective arrangements disclosed in Specification 304,357, [Class 38 (v), Electric Switches &c.].
