455,473. Electric signalling systems. LEWIN, F., Station Street Buildings, Huddersfield.-(Schenck Eisengiesserei und Maschinenfabrik Darmstadt Ges., C.; 55, Landwehrstrasse, Darmstadt, Germany) Feb. 26, 1936, No. 5741. [Class 40 (i)] In an indicating or registering system for apparatus such as weighing machines, each digital drum 10 of the indicator is operated by magnets 1 ... 4 which may be energized singly or in different combinations according to the position of the apparatus. The magnet 1 is fixed and its core 5 operates the magnet 2, the core 6 of which operates magnet 3 which in like manner operates magnet 4. The core 8 controls the drum 10 through a rack-andpinion. The displacements of the cores of the magnets 1 ... 4 are in the ratio 4 : 2 : 2 : 1 so that the drum may be positioned into any one of ten positions. The magnets are operated by contacts 16 . . . 19 controlled in accordance with coded perforations provided in a strip 11 which is set by the apparatus, the position of which is to be indicated.
