Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for. - In a boiler cleaner of the kind comprising a nozzle 4, Fig. 1, mounted at the end of a tube 3 which is longitudinally movable within a steam distributing casing 1 and is provided with apertures 5 permitting communication between the inlet 2 of the casing 1 and the tube 3 and is formed with an external shoulder 6 subjected to the steam pressure in the working position of the nozzle to counteract the reactive force of tha steam jet, the edges of the apertures 5 are disposed to coincide with the shoulder 6 so that the pressure on the latter ceases simultaneously with the steam supply to the nozzle. The apertures may be located on the inner side of the shoulder as shown in Fig. 3 in which case a channel 15 is formed between one or more of the apertures and the shoulder; alternatively they may be located as at 5, 17 on both sides of the shoulder, Fig. 4. The edge 8 of the casing 1 is preferably formed with a projecting lip 18 and the tube 3 rotated in its retracted position to bring the apertures 5 into alignment therewith so as to secure a larger jointing area between the casing and tube, while the tube may be locked in this position by a finger 21 pivotally mounted on the casing 1 and adapted to engage a recess 20 in the handwheel thereof.
