Abstract

333,076. Billinghurst, P. E. Sept. 9, 1929. Induction furnaces. - Siliceous minerals are heated to volatilize the alkalis in a straight or U-shaped tube 10 embedded in molten metal 9 forming a secondary surrounding a core 7 having a primary coil 8. The charge is forced through the tube 10 by a fan 6 or by steam. A preheater 11 may be included.
