Abstract

333,063. Fowler, C. H. and Walker, H. Aug. 20, 1929. Shingle distributers.-In apparatus for spreading shingle on roads comprising a hopper mounted on wheels and having at its base a longitudinal discharge opening, the discharge is controlled by means of several hinged doors each adjusted hv means of a separate hand-operated screwed rod and lever mechanism, and an inclined imperforate tray is reciprocated below the discharge opening. The hinged doors 8 are adjusted by means of bellcrank levers 9, screwed rods 11, and hand-wheels 12, parts of the rods 11 being flexible and parts of the levers bearing against the doors. The tray 14 is carried by link joints 21 and is reciprocated by crank and lever mechanism 20 driven from the road wheel axle by bevel gearing and a clutch. Brake blocks 23 engaging the wheels 2 are carried by a shaft 25 adapted to be rocked by rotating a hand-wheel 24.
