Abstract

336,315. Rosbatham, R. July 19, 1929. Grit &c. distributers.-A machine for distributing grit, chippings, &c. on roads &c. comprises a hopper or container mounted on a wheeled frame and having a controlled opening at the bottom through which the material is discharged into a stationary horizontal cylindrical casing containing a rotary drum or cylinder provided with curved blades to carry the material round and throw it with force through an opening in the bottom of the casing. The chassis b carrying the hopper a is mounted on two main wheels c and a third wheel e provided with a screw f for raising it when the machine is attached behind a tar sprayer. The discharge opening g of the hopper is controlled by a screw-operated door h. Means may be provided for controlling the length of the opening g. The material falls into the fixed casing k and is driven downwards through an opening p by curved blades n on a drum l driven by chain or other gearing, from the axle d.
