Abstract

334,297. Bunce, W. J. June 7, 1929. Grit &c. distributers.-A for distributing grit or like finely divided material on roads and for similar purposes comprises a hopper or container with a perforated bottom, a slide member for opening or closing the holes, a rotary agitator, a ratchet device for putting the agitator shaft in and out of driving connection with the travelling wheels, and a wire net or other distributer below the perforated bottom. The hopper a has inclined sides and ends and cross stays f, and is carried by a wheeled frame g adapted to be attached behind a lorry by a. draught member h. The wheels i are disc shaped and have solid rubber tyres j. The axle k traverses the hopper and is provided with one or more projection or lugs m for agitating the contents of the hopper. The axle k is driven by ratchet-and-pawl mechanism, the spring-controlled pawls being provided with handles for movement by hand. The slide s below the hopper bottom is moved by a pivoted bar u connected to a hand-lever o. Slits or perforations in the slide s register with corresponding slits or perforations in the hopper bottom in one position and close them in another. The wire screen z or other distributer may be hung by chains below the regulating-slide s.
