Abstract

332,790. Krauss, F. E. Aug. 28, 1929. Retaining devices below closure.-A closure for benzine tanks &c., particularly for automobiles, is formed with a cap and a filling nozzle, one part, e.g. the cap having projections e' pressed outwardly in a resilient manner to engage conical supporting surfaces h' formed on the other part, these surfaces extending for a part only of the circumference of the cap and merging into it by inclined portions b", which acting as cams, by part turning the cap, relieve, the pressure of the resilient projections thereby aiding removal. The cap may carry a transparent disc p for viewing the contacts. The device is stated to form a better sealing means the greater the vibration of the vehicle, and will act as a safety-valve in case of carburettor fires. The resilient means may be formed, alternatively, of a number of balls carried by a common spring-ring.
