332,788. Moore & Co., Ltd., C., Shaw, W. M., and Trantom, W. Sept. 5, 1929. Gravity, materials descending by; reciprocating and oscillating trays; air and gases, controlling direction of flow of. -In an apparatus for drying granular material such as salt, the material is fed into the top of a tower 1 having a plurality of trays 2 of " Monel metal," or stainless steel inclined at an angle greater than the angle of repose of the material, and is dried bv a stream of hot air forced in bv a fan 8 at the bottom of the tower by a pipe 12 and higher up by a pipe 13. The trays are vibrated by cams 16 and springs 18 and are rigidly secured at one end to the tower 1.
