Abstract
1,239,072. Upward current classifier. AXIA FANS Ltd. 17 June, 1968 [29 April, 1968], No. 39807/70. Divided out of 1,239,071. Heading B2H. [Also in Division F4] The subject-matter of this specification is substantially identical with that of the parent specification but the invention is concerned with the drying of particulate material by contact with a drying gas in a rotating, horizontal, perforated drum 10, the drying gas being passed through the drum in a direction transverse to the drum axis and with a velocity sufficient to fluidise the material at least to some extent. In a modification, instead of using the trough 32 for grading the particulate material, grading may be obtained by progressively increasing the size of the perforations along the length of the drum 10 and collecting the particles which escape through the various sized perforations.
