332,628. Steimmig, F., and Erste B÷hmische Kunstseidefabrik Akt.- Ges. Feb. 28, 1929. Cellulose xanthates, and processes for making filaments from.-To control the rate of ripening of viscose such as is to be used for the manufacture of artificial fibres &c., and to which organic substances such as polyvalent alcohols or sugars have been added, which substances have a coagulating effect on viscose and also serve to diminish oxidation of the hydrogen sulphide, there is added to the viscose either substances that retard ripening such as sulphites, amides, or an arsenite, or a mixture of such substances such as sodium arsenite and urea. In an example, sodium sulphite is added to a viscose containing cane sugar. The added substances may be dissolved in the viscose, or added during the manufacture, for example, during the opening up of the alkali cellulose or the solution of the xanthogenate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 274,521 and 302,115.
