Abstract

332,555. British Celanese, Ltd., Taylor, W. I., and Crosse, W. J. April 22, 1929. Tubes or bobbins. - In the packaging of yarn &c. particularly in the formation of cross or parallel wound cheeses during winding or spinning the yarn is wound on to a tubular support held between two flanges, one of which is fixed to a member in fixed connection with the driving means and the other of is removable, the flanges being adapted to support the ends of the package during formation. Light flanges may also be formed near the ends of, and integral with the tube. and supported by the aforesaid flanges. The tubular yarn support 13, Fig. 1. is made of metal, cardboard, paper, or other suitable material, and is held by friction or in annular grooves 11 cut in the two flanges 9 and 10. It may be a plain cylinder, or corrugated longitudinally or transversely and may be perforated and coated with substances resistant to steam and moisture to facilitate subsequent processes. The removable flange may be secured by a form of quick release device.
