Abstract

331,070. Nye, J. A., and Caygill, L. E. June 6, 1929. Diaphragm. valves.-An improved diaphragm valve, more particularly for highpressure gas cylinders, comprises one or more diaphragms 2, one or more of which is hermetically attached, as by sweating, to the casing, a rigid valve head 1 being controlled by the diaphragms and means being provided for supporting the diaphragms over their entire area when subjected to fluid pressure, such as by the inner face of the screw plug 10. The valve head 1 may be loose or secured to a diaphragm. The valve is actuated by a screw 12 abutting against the upper diaphragm by a hand wheel 14 which is recessed underneath, at 17, to enclose the hexagonal or like boss of the plug 10; the periphery of the wheel may also be recessed to provide a gripping surface for the hand.
