Abstract

328,165. Kocherscheidt, W. July 4, 1929. Spoons and forks, table and like.-The edges of a spoon &c. are finished by holding the spoon 1 by hooks 3 on a carrier 2, capable of either reciprocating or traversing motion past cutters 5 and leather covered buffing-wheels 6. The cutters and grinding-wheels are attached to staggered guide rods 12, 13 and 18, 19 respectively, adapted to be resiliently pressed towards the work by springs 16, 21. The motion of the rods is determined by wheels 14 and 22 adapted to bear on the lower portion of the carrier 2 which is shaped as a template for the work. The cutters are rotated by bevel gearing 8 from a pulley 10, the grinding-wheels being driven directly from pulleys 11. In an alternative construction, the spoons are mounted on an endless band and are automatically released from beneath the retaining hooks when the band passes over a pulley. In this case the wheels may be driven by means of flexible or universally jointed connections from a self-contained electric motor.
