Abstract
326,684. Harden, T., and Mepham, H. A. April 12, 1929. Earth-continuity couplings.-In a lead-covered electric cable in which the insulation b of a conductor a is covered with copper tape c, the outer surface or a portion d thereof of the tape c is tinned with a solder of sufficiently low melting point so as to effect a union with the lead sheath e when the latter is extruded thereon. When two lengthsof cable are to be jointed together, the lead sheath e is stripped off for a suitable distance and a tinned copper sleeve f is fitted over the lapping c. A lead-covered sleeve g is then fitted over the ends of the adjacent sleeves f, the conductors a united in the usual manner and plumbers alloy or like solder cast over the joint as at h. The heat of the casting unites the metal h with the sheath e and the lead covering of the sleeve g, and thel sleeve f with the tape c-
