Abstract
302,432. Callender's Cable & Construction Co., Ltd., and Wilson, A. E. Oct. 6, 1927. Cable joints. - A sleeve A of lead &c. that covers a cable joint is formed or fitted with a neck A<1> that fits the cable B and can be jointed to the lead sheathing by the application of heat and pressure. The neck A' can be cast on or otherwise attached to a lead or spun copper &c. sleeve and is formed with a tapered surface and a groove to enable an annular heated clamp to be drawn up on the surface. The inner surface of the neck is preferably tinned or a layer of fusible metal interposed between it and the cable sheath. The sleeve A may be made in two parts secured together by overlapping or interengaging surfaces A<2> that can be jointed by heat and pressure, fusible metal being interposed if necessary. The sleeve A ma.y be so formed and the necks A' so arranged as to provide for branch or T joints. Specification 275,823 is referred to.
