Abstract

326,464. Davies, T. Oct. 11, 1928. Bungs and bushes for bungholes.-Relates to sheet metal drums of the type in which the bunghole is formed with an integral inwardly pressed neck having an annular corrugation forming a seat for a packing ring &c. According to the invention, the metal around the bunghole is pressed outwards at 4 to form a dish or receptacle around the neck 2. A hole 12 is formed in the neck for drainage purposes, so that the drum can be completely emptied therethrough. A reinforcing ring 13, Fig. 4, may be provided around the neck 2, and the metal of the neck may be pressed into the thread of the reinforcing ring to form a thread for receiving the screwed bung. The bunghole may be formed in the cylindrical portion cf the drum.
