Abstract

Covers, wagon and like.-In an arrangement for tightening and locking a chain, rope, or band f adapted for holding together the walls and load of a wagon, one or both ends of the chain &c. f are provided with enlarged links g one of which is passed over the free end p of an S-shaped lever d pivoted to the upper end of an iron strap k, the lever being then swung down to a vertical position against the wagon wall and locked in place by a ring h passed over the free end p and co-operating with a padlock or lead seal inserted through a hole in the end p of the lever. In the construction shown, the chains &c. f are passed over a canvas cover s, which is additionally secured by a further chain f1 passed horizontally through eyelets u in the cover and through rings t on the wagon, the chain f1 being tightened as above described by a lever d arranged to pivot either in a vertical plane as shown or in an horizontal plane.
