Abstract

323,537. Fairbanks, R. N. Oct. 4, 1928. Springs, arrangement of.-Conversion attachments for increasing the carrying capacity of motor vehicles consist of an extension at the rear end of the frame having auxiliary springs bearing on the rear axle. The extension comprises two channel members a, one at each side, connected by a transverse member d. Each of the auxiliary springs h is clamped to the frames by U bolts k and by a bolt g which also holds in position a wedge. f driven in between the lower flange of the extension and the tapered part of the main frame. Bolts b also connect the main and extension members. The forward end of the auxiliary spring h bears on a shoe n secured on the axle near the attachment points of the ordinary spring o and radius rod l<3>.
