Abstract

323,361. National Omnibus & Transport Co., Ltd., and Morison, W. J. Dec. 27, 1928. Hoods.-In hoods in which the hoop sticks are moved along guides a longitudinally movable chain or the like which extends through or adjacent to the guides is connected to the front hoop and is provided with a series of stops spaced apart, each stop being so formed as to engage and move a different one of tha hoop sticks so that when the chain is moved to raise the hood the hoops are picked up in succession and moved one after the othe,r from their retracted to their extended position. The chain E is connected to the slider G of the front hoop stick D<1> and is provided at spaced intervals with stops H shaped as shown which increase in size. To close the hood the chain is moved by means of the sprockets F, F<1> causing the front hoop stick to move forward. The stops H then successively pick up the hoop sticks and move them forward into position. On retracting the hood the chain moves the front hoop stick along guides A the front hoop stick pushing back the remaining hoop sticks D while the stops H pass through the corresponding apertures, C<2> in the hoop sticks.
