Abstract

289,222. Haldane, G., and Smeaton, J. March 11, 1927. Hoods for road vehicles. In hoods of the kind in which hoop sticks are arranged to run on cantrails by means of wires &c. operated from a winch &c., the wires &c. pass through apertures in the ends of the hoop-sticks and thereby keep them in contact with the rails. The hoopsticks are arranged to run on elevated side rails of U-section by means of wires operated by drums. The wires J, K are connected to the front hoop-stick D and pass through apertures in the remaining hoop-sticks &c. around the vehicle to drums M, N on which they are each wound to reverse direction. The drums are operated by a crank handle and the hoop-sticks are interconnected by tapes G, H. The rails are curved to the desired contour of the hood.
