Abstract
323,144. Braithwaite &. Co. Engineers, Ltd., and Tetford, J. C. Feb. 2, 1929. Pontoons.-Tanks or pontoons are built up of plates having inwardlydirected flanges 2, Fig. 2, preferably bevelled at 3, the edges between the adjacent walls consisting of inwardly flanged angle section members 4, 6. The walls of large tanks may be strengthened at intervals by additional uprights of U-section. The members 4, 6 have plates 8 welded or otherwise secured to their ends, and stiffening plates 11. A piece 13, Fig. 3, which may be separate or integral with a member 4 or 6, enables a tight joint to be made at the corners, and stays 15 may be provided.
