Abstract

322,630. Gledhill, W. Nov. 21, 1928. Addition to 289,570. Shuttleless looms. - One or both of the jaws a of the delivery gripper and the jaws b of the receiving gripper of the loom of the parent Specification are provided with yielding gripping surfaces constituted for example by a rubber pad c adjustable by a screw c<1>, or a spring controlled metal disc &c. The receiving gripper upper jaw b has a projection d to fit between projections e on the lower jaw b, the tapered ends a<1> of the delivering gripper engaging these projections and opening the jaws a without causing any rubbing action on their gripping surfaces. When the jaws a, b commence to move apart the jaws b and a down inclined surfaces f<1>, f<2> at the outer end of the usual recess f in the jaws a so as to approach gradually and finally grip the weft. The delivering gripper jaws a have projections d<1>, e<1> similar to the projections d, c, but on the inner sides since the jaws a are opened by the outward movement of the receiving gripper.
