Abstract

731,906. Clothes pegs. BERGQVIST, K. H. B. Nov. 26, 1953 [Nov. 26, 1952], No. 32818/53. Class 44. In or for a clothes peg of the type comprising two elongated jaws 12, 14 and a spring member 16 having a helical portion disposed within opposed recesses formed on in the adjacent face of each jaw and an arm extending from each end of the helical portion over the central part of the jaws towards those ends of the jaws intended to produce a clamping action and respectively engaging the outer faces of the jaws, a jaw has one of its faces formed with two projections 20 disposed within the region of the central portion and relatively displaced both in the longitudinal direction and the transverse direction of the jaw and with corresponding recesses 22 adapted to receive projections of the face of the opposite jaw. As shown the two jaws are identical. The projections 20 are of sufficient height so that they do not become disengaged from the recesses 22 when the jaws are open. The recesses 22 in each jaw form part of a continuous recess 24 to facilitate manufacture. Adjacent each recess 24 each jaw has a transverse notch 28, the pair of notches being adapted to engage the clothes line, and to prevent the clothes line from becoming jammed in the jaws the projection 20 nearest each notch is formed so that its front face extends to the edge of the notch.
