Abstract
549,677. Clips. BRITISH INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS, Ltd., and WOODFULL, A. H. April 30, .1941, No. 5618. [Class 44] In a clip for holding papers &c. or for use as a clothes peg, of the kind in which the pivot or fulcrum is formed by a transverse semicylindrical projection 3 on the clip member 1 working in a mating recess 4 on the other member 2, the projection has a circumferential rib or flange 5 seating in a corresponding groove 6 formed in recess 4 to present lateral movement of the members 1, 2. The projection 3 and recess 4 may extend completely across the faces of the members but preferably, as seen in section, Fig. 6, members 1, 2 are identical, each having a projection extending half-way across the face and a recess extending across the other half. The jaws 9 may be closed by an encircling rubber band 8 resting in grooves in members 1, 2, the ends 10 of which are spaced apart to form fingerpieces for opening the clip by nipping. Alternatively the jaws may be closed by a rubber cord 17, Fig. 10, extending through registering apertures and enclosed at its ends 18.
