Abstract

1344978 Grippers for axminster looms APPLEBY EDMONDS Ltd 19 April 1971 [24 Feb 1970] 8791/70 Heading D1E A yarn gripper for an Axminster loom comprises a pair of jaws 10, 13 pivoted-together by a disc 20 which is attached to one of the jaws and has a bevelled periphery which cooperates with a complementary bevelled periphery of an aperture 19 in the other jaw. The disc may be integral with one of the jaws (Fig. 7, not shown) or may be attached to it by projection welding. Alternatively the disc may be provided with a tubular extension which extends through an aperture in the first jaw member and is swaged over a countersunk portion on the outside (Fig. 5, not shown). The jaws may be provided with pairs of cooperating lugs (Fig. 1, not shown) to maintain them aligned as described in Specification 1344979.
