Abstract

Reeds. - In a reed of the kind having only straight blades and comprising a reed fixed to the lay and a relatively movable reed which can oscillate backwards and forwards in the direction of the warp threads, the movable reed c is mounted at its upper end to rock on a pivot d on the front side of the reed b which is fixed to the lay a. For adjusting the reed c, the pivot d is journaled between two pairs of brackets f<1>, f<2> , the brackets f<1> being adjustable angularly with respect to the brackets f<2> and being held by nuts h. The reed c moves into the plane of the reed b during the beat-up, but is disengaged by its own inertia and gravity during the backward stroke of the lay. The disengagement may be assisted by springs.
