Abstract
25,457. Konig, R. Nov. 6. Reeds; beat-up motions.-The reed comprises two members each having blades secured side by side to upper and lower supports, the member 1, Figs. 1, 4, and 9, being fixed to the lay, while the member is moved relatively to the member 1 to cause its blades 5 to enter between the blades 4 of the member 1 at the beat-up, and to recede therefrom when the lay moves back, whereby the warp threads are combed and cleaned. The member 2 may be pivoted to the member 1 and be provided with a slotted bar 22, Fig. 1, actuated by a spring 21 and a slotted rod 23 carrying an horizontallyguided roller 25 actuated by a cam 28 ; or the member 2 may be actuated by a spring-controlled lever 11, Fig. 9, and cam 14 on a shaft 15 driven from the main shaft. The blades 5, Fig. 4, are made very broad, so that they may always be in engagement with the blades 4 at the top of the reed. In a modification, two members 6, 7, Fig. 7, are employed, the member 7 having curved blades 8 and being moved horizontally to and from the member 6.
