Abstract
328,107. Hacking & Co., Ltd., and Woods, W. F. April 11, 1929. Letting-off warps; pile-fabric looms.-In a loom for weaving terry fabrics such as towels and napkins, the pile warp threads pass over a roller guide U which is given a swinging movement to draw off these threads to a predetermined length to form loops. The roller is carried by levers R pivoted at Q and operated by slotted levers P connected to cranks N on the terry motion shaft F, which is operated by a strap band dobby lever and is provided with a spring quadrant B and spring d. Set screws g in lugs at the ends of the slots in the levers P and set screws g<1> on the frame control and regulate the swing of the levers R. The guide U is moved back to the position shown when the third or fast pick is being inserted, thereby tensioning and drawing off the warp. The guide is immediately thereafter free, but is retained in its rear position by means of springs V acting on the levers R, until the beat up, whereupon the loop is formed, the terry warp tightened and the guide U moved forwards.
