336,160. British Northrop Loom Co., Ltd., (Northrop Loom Co.). Dec. 12, 1929. Letting-off warps; warps, tensioning. - The movements of a roller or warp tension equalizer 36, supported in a vertically walled loop of the warp between the warp beam and the front of the loom, are made to govern the movements of the warp beam 3, which is rotated to let off the warp by pawl-and-ratchet mechanism from the lay rock shaft. Brackets 25 support guide rollers 29, 30, and also provide guides 31 for toothed rack bars 32 on which is mounted the warp tension roller 36. The movements of the equalizer 36 give similar movements to bars 32 and extensions 38, 39 which are connected to a pivoted lever 24 the position of which limits the backward stroke of the ratchet operating pawl. The roller 36 is weighted by means of a weight 46 connected to a strap 47 secured to a roll 49 mounted on the extending shaft 35, whilst a spring-controlled strap 51, passing over a pulley 50 also mounted on the shaft 35, permits a yielding return of the warp at the beat up.
