Abstract
322,347. Dornig, W. Dec. 8, 1928. Inductor-alternators. - In a multifrequency generator of the homopolar inductor type comprising a number of independent stator-rotor units supplying different frequencies, the units or groups of units having a common exciting core, and the generator being driven by a motor which is maintained at constant speed, the reluctances of the magnetic paths for successive units are adjusted for the optimum value of the flux by selecting the dimensions of the air gaps or by increasing the iron cross section of the generators successively as their distance from the source of flux, increases. As shown applied to a generator 1 producing ten separate currents of different frequencies, the exciting coil 4 is at the centre, and the stator units 2a - - 2<k> are provided with generating windings located in slots. The stator units, and the rotor units 3<a> - - 3k are formed with diminishing air-gaps and increasing cross-section as their distance from the exciting coil increases. The exciting coil may be located at one end of the machine, and if a greater number of frequencies is required, an exciting coil may be provided for each group of generating units, for example, for each group of ten units in a machine producing twenty frequencies. The motor 5 is maintained at constant speed, preferably by means of a centrifugal governor 6, and the generator 1, motor 5 and governor 6 may be located in a common housing.
