Road-traffic signals on vehicles. - Signalling-apparatus on roadvehicles for indicating direction of turning and " straight ahead " comprises series of lamps 6 - - 10, 11 - - 15, 16 - - 20 adapted be illuminated successively towards the right or left and vertically. By turning a switch handle 47 to the right, knife contact members 22 - - 27 engage contacts 34 - - 39, and the circuit' of a motor 51 is closed. The motor rotates a brush 48 over contacts 53 - - 57, thus lighting the front lamps 6 - - 10 and the parallel connected rear lamps 11 - - 15 consecutively towards the right, each lamp being extinguished before the next lamp is illuminated. By turning the switch handle 47 to the left, contacts 28 - - 33 are engaged, and a light travelling to the left is shown. In the normal position, the switch engages contacts 40 - - 45, and by operating a switch 93 a light travelling up the vertical lamp series 16 - - 20 is obtained, indicating " straight ahead." In place of the travelling light 16 - - 20, a single lamp may be used or a number of lamps may be illuminated simultaneously to give the " straight ahead " signal. A spring motor may replace the electric motor 51.
