Abstract

256,532. Treitel, H. April 13, 1926. Road-traffic signals on vehicles. - A light known as a wandering light is adapted to indicate direction changes. A row of lamps A arranged preferably at the rear of the vehicle are connected up in two groups of four lamps, one pole of each lamp being conneated to a common conductor 2 while the other is connected to individual conductors 1 - - 4 and there in turn to contact studs I - - IV. A switch barrel having conducting pieces K, each removed from the next by a quarter of the barrel surface and connected to an annular contact ring L, moves over the contact studs. A hand switch controls a motor which drives the barrel switch through worm gears W. When the hand switch is moved from the central and stop position, the motor is rotated in one direction or the other and the lamps 1 - - 4 and 5 - - 8 connected in parallel therewith are lit and extinguished in succession to show a light wandering from right to left or left to right. A stop signal may be given by moving the switch to a fourth position where the first and third lamp of each group are cut out and the second and fourth lit and extinguished together.
