Abstract

Thermionic amplifiers. - In a highfrequency amplifier the coupling is effected by a tuned circuit 2 in parallel with respect to the anode circuit of the valve and by an auxiliary circuit 3, 5, 6 in series between the anode of the valve and the grid of the succeeding valve. The auxiliary circuit is less heavily damped than the tuned circuit 2 and is provided to reduce the amplification of the carrier and lower audio frequencies to compensate for the loss in the circuit 2 of the higher audio-frequencies. The Figure shows the series circuit autotransformer coupledrand'provided with resistance 7 to give the desired damping since the circuit 2 is damped by the valve V1. The tuning condensers of the two circuits may be mechanically coupled. The coupling is preferably employed in the intermediate circuit amplifier of a supersonic heterodyne receiver.
