Abstract
321,755. Potter, A. T. Sept. 3, 1928. Pivoted-window opening and closing apparatus.-A pivoted wind screen regulator adapted to be applied as a unit comprises a worm-wheel sector 40 secured in the frame of the screen and a worm 16 held in a casing 10 securred to the body by flanges 11, said worm being rotated by a squared end 17. The worm is carried at one end by a two-part spherical bearing 20, 21, the member 21 being held by an adjustable nut and lock-nut 22, 23. At the other end, the worm has a reduced part held in a slot in a. bent spring-metal clip 32 which is adjustable by screw 35. The boss 41 of the worm-wheel is let into the tubular frame of the screen and is provided with a bushing 43, carried on studs 52, integral with members 50, slidably mounted in the frame and clamped by screws 53 and cover-plates 54. The boss is secured to the frame by a screw 55 and bolt 42a passing through the glass-holding extension 46 and a projection 42 of the boss. The space between the screen and body is sealed by a strip of leather 62 secured in a beaded metal strip 60 and to the body at 64, or by a rubber strip held in a suitable clip. The worm-wheel may be carried on an axle passing through the side members of the casing 10, said axle being held in position by a grubscrew and circumferential groove. The wormwheel in this modification is bolted to an ear bent up from the tubular frame of the screen.
