Abstract

321,112. Mertlik, F. Jan. 7, 1929. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid), Fixed-abutment type; working- fluid supply.-The vanes 7 of a rotary internal-combustion engine -are carried by pistons 6 which are connected in diametrically opposite pairs by rods 21 and which move in .cylinders 5 mounted in the rotor 3 to draw in and compress the charge. Admission and discharge is effected through ports 12, 12a in the rotor -end faces which register with arcuate ports in rings 8, 8<a> pressed thereagainst and communicating with .external pipes 11, 11<a>. The charges are delivered to a chamber 13 provided with a spring-pressed piston 14 and pass by a valve 17 to the working space where they are ignited to act on the vanes 7. Two separate exhaust ports 18, 19 are provided. A safety valve 15 is fitted to the chamber 13. Packing strips 25, 26 for the faces and ends of the vanes, for the contact point of the rotor casing, and for the end faces of the rotor are provided.
