Abstract
320,773. Dransfield, F. C. Oct. 25, 1928. Wind and anti-dazzle screens.-In a vehicle windscreen of the kind having an adjustable panel 1, Fig. 1, which is combined with a second panel a serving as an anti-dazzle screen or a weather-guard, the panels are pivotally supported at the opposite extremities of a pair of uprights 6 so as to be fixed at any chosen inclination relative to the uprights, which are themselves adapted for reversal so that their lower ends may become uppermost or vice versa. The anti-dazzle screen a consists of a sheet of glass, the whole or a portion of which is coloured green, blue or other colour, mounted in a frame b. Both the screen a and the panel 1 are adapted to be fixed in their desired positions by tightening up nuts h, 8 respectively co-operating with slit portions e, 5 of the uprights 6, or in the case of heavier screens by means of suitable stays. For reversing the position of the uprights they are provided with pins 9 pivoting in holes 9a, Fig. 2, in fixed standards 10 or in holes 15 in adjustable standards 14 slidable along guides 19 on the dashboard and attachable to the fixed standards 10. When the adjustable standards 14 are employed, they can be moved to an elevated position before reversing. the uprights 6, so as to allow the panels 1, a easily to clear the steering-wheel or other obstruction. A similar result may be attained by pivoting the uprights 6 at the free ends of arms 37, Fig. 9, which can be fixed at any suitable inclination by notched stays 36. To facilitate adjustment of the screen or panel worm or other suitable gear may be added. Figs. 4 - - 6 show various functions of the screen a and panel 1, one or both being in the closed position. In Fig. 4, a simple anti-dazzle effect is obtained; in Fig. 5, the screen a serves as a weather-guard for the windscreen panel 1; while in Fig. 6, the panel 1 serves as a weather-guard for the antidazzle screen a, which is in the operative. position.
