Abstract

220,489. Dendy, A. W. Sept. 29, 1923. Anti-dazzle screens for drivers.-A semi-transparent coloured sheet of glass 6 for protecting the eyes of vehicle drivers from the glare of the sun or approaching headlights is carried in a frame 1 pivotally mounted about an horizontal axis 2 on a support 3 which is so shaped as to allow the driver to have a clear unobstructed view through a gap 18 between the support 3 and the lower edge of the frame 1, the support 3 being itself carried by means of one or more hinged arms 8, 9, 1 from the steering column 12 or other fixed part of the vehicle. In the construction shown, the frame 1 is rectangular and is mounted at its shorter edges on a support comprising a horizontal limb 4 and two vertical limbs 3. The screen 6 may comprise either a single sheet of glass or a number of sheets of different colours preferably mounted at the edges by adhesive tape.
