Abstract
328,554. Collie, J. H. Jan. 23, 1929, Anti-dazzle screens.-An anti-dazzle screen for the use of vehicle drivers formed of tinted celluloid or like material and adapted to give a varying degree of obscuration of the dazzling light comprises a main screen A uniformly tinted, but having a small area B of deeper intensity of triangular or other shape such that the driver, by movement of his head, may increase the obscuration of the light without affecting in the same degree his view of either side of the road. In the construction shown the area B of deeper intensity is produced by superimposing on the main screen A a small triangular sheet of tinted material having its apex pointing downwards, both sheets A, B being gripped in an horizontal slotted tube C rotatably mounted at its ends in the bosses d<2> of pneumatic suckers D, by which the entire device may be secured to the vehicle windscreen. Preferably, the lower edge a<2> of the main screen is inclined to the horizontal, while a third sheet may be employed to obscure to a further degree a portion of the second sheet B.
