Exhaust - silencers. -The exhaust gases are led into a pipe a containing a helix b through apertures in the blades of which helically twisted metallic ribbons d, e, f are passed. A portion of the exhaust flows along the helix b, the remainder flowing along the ribbons. The two portions intercept one another and their velocity and pressure are reduced, with a consequent reduction of noise.
