Abstract

318,900. Lucas, P. Sept. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Vaporizing - apparatus; incandescent vapour burners; burners, attaching.- In an inclined or inverted incandescent mantle lamp burning liquid fuel the vaporizing tube or a mixing tube in heat-conductive relationship with the vaporizing tube passes through the incandescent body. Fig. 1 shows one form of lamp in which the incandescent body carried by the burner 6 surrounds the vaporizing tube 2 which discharges through a nipple 3 into a mixing tube 4 having lateral air inlets 7. A cap 5 deflects the mixture downwards to the burner 6. The mixing tube is formed with an extension fitting over the vaporizing tube so as to be easily removable therefrom. Fig. 3 shows another form of lamp in which the incandescent body surrounds the mixing tube 12. The vaporizing tube 10 discharges through a nipple 11 into the detachable mixing tube 12 to which the cap 15 and burner 16 are connected. The bottom of the incandescent body is formed with an opening of sufficient size to leave around the mixing tube an annular aperture for the escape of the burning gases. A plate 17 deflects the burning gases away from the air inlets of the mixing tube and conducts heat to the mixing tube. The windguard or lamp cap is carried by a body 13 screwed in the upper part of the mixing tube.
