Abstract
318,493. Thompson, L. I. Sept. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Openers &c.-In an arrangement for separating ,lumpy material and foreign bodies from fine material, particularly applicable to the separation of fibrous lumps and heavy particles from fine fibres in a thread separating machine, a current of air is directed on to the material in a direction opposite to that in which it is moving, whereby the fine material is carried away by the air current, whilst the heavier material falls away under the action of gravity. As applied to a thread separating machine of the kind described in Specification 270,255 the material passes from the opening discs 1 into a chamber 2. A current of air is directed through an opening 3 into the chamber and carries the fine fibres into a pipe 4 leading to a fan 5 which delivers them through a pipe 7. The heavier material falls to the bottom of the chamber.
